Our read

The Reveal X 3.0 is the cheapest way into the Reveal app,. In 2026 Tactacam filed a second FCC ID for it, RVG3CD, which swaps the 2024 Quectel Cat 1 modem for a Sequans Cat 1bis module and adds Bands 14 and 66.

The specs are where it gets loose. The product page promises “96ft+” detection; TrailCamPro measured 60 ft. Trigger speed is fine at 0.36 s, but recovery between photos was 22.1 s, twice the 4.0 models.

At $99.99 it’s priced the same as a discounted Edge 3 or Edge 4, and the Reveal X 4.0 is only $30 more. Buy it if price is everything and you’re on Tactacam’s plans already.

Bottom line: Fine for a second or third camera on a Tactacam plan. For one camera, the X 4.0’s measured detection and battery life are worth the extra $30.

Maker claims vs filings and tests

Detection: maker says

96 ft+ detection Tactacam product page

Filing or test shows

60 ft at 34.1° in TrailCamPro's test TrailCamPro review

Our read

The biggest gap between claim and measurement in our database. Plan on 60 ft, not 96.

Trigger speed: maker says

"Sub-1/2 s" (product page); 0.35 s (spec article) Tactacam product page

Filing or test shows

0.36 s in TrailCamPro's test TrailCamPro review

Our read

The spec article's 0.35 s matches the test. The product page's wording is just looser.

Two radios, one name: maker says

Two FCC IDs: RVG3 (2024, Quectel Cat 1, no Band 14) and RVG3CD (2026, Sequans Cat 1bis, adds Bands 14 and 66) FCC grant 2BBNQ-RVG3CD

Our read

Check the FCC ID on the label. A 2026 unit is likely the RVG3CD with the newer modem, but Tactacam doesn't say which version a retailer is shipping.

What it costs to run

The Reveal X 3.0 runs on Tactacam Reveal plans. The cheapest paid tier, Starter (250 photos (+$5 per extra 250)), costs $5 a month or $55 billed yearly. Over two years, one camera plus that plan comes to about $209.99 ($99.99 camera + 2 × $55.00).

Each plan covers one camera; extra cameras on the same account are discounted. Prices from the Tactacam plan page, checked 2026-10-21. Run your own numbers in the plan cost calculator.
